Ashcroft obtains their drinking water from the Thompson River. The water is treated with chlorine at the source and is pumped through a network of pipes and reservoirs throughout the community. Various tests are done on a daily and weekly basis to monitor factors such as turbidity to ensure that the water is safe to drink. To see the latest turbidity readings click on the
Turbidity Scale In the event of a power outage, please refrain from using water as we are unable to replenish the reservoirs without power and the supply must be kept for use in an emergency.
While the Village does not currently have watering restrictions, we do recognize that water is a valuable and limited resource and therefore please use it wisely. We ask that you don't water during the heat of the day, ensure that water is not left running while washing your vehicles, and refrain from sprinkling during heavy winds.
Door to door solid waste collection is done on a weekly basis and the recycling depot is open 24/7 to accept paper, cardboard, plastics and glass. Residential solid waste collection is done as follows: Downtown and Mesa Vista areas are collected on Tuesdays and North Ashcroft is collected on Fridays. Commercial collection is done on both Tuesdays and Fridays. At present there is a three bag weekly limit for residential collections.
